Love going to the spa even more. Pamper your overworked, stressed, undernourished and dehydrated body, mind and soul. Heal thy skin, inside and out. Healing therapies await you from five centuries of wellness practices. Cleanse and nurture with  genuine, historical approach with botanicals from the 17th century. The professionals at The Spa at Colonial Williamsburg want our to experience and delight in one of the century treatments, moving forward in your wellness.
I felt blessed, thankful, rejuvenated and even a little guilty (since my family was in the park), after splurging in a 17th century Shea Butter treatment.
As you undress both, literally and figuratively, leaving your worries and stress with your street clothes in your locker, wrap yourself in a new layer, a soft, welcoming bathrobe and embark into a journey of wellness continuum. Spend a few minutes relaxing in the ladies lounge with a century tea, for balancing, detoxifying or another healing quality.
Inhale fragrant herbal tea before and during your treatment, be it a massage, body wrap or facial. Allow your aesthetician or massage therapist to help you relax, unwind and focus only on you.
My 17th century treatment included a Shea Butter, derived from a nut in Africa. Shea Butter is known for its' hydrating qualities. Shea butter is a raw material, vegetable fat, among its' benefits includes a sun protector, a natural anti-inflammatory and counters some irritation.

(Just off the Coast of Georgia)
Just a few hours from anywhere, mostly on the Southeastern United States, and worth the drive, you can relax and rejuvenate your body and mind at Eagle Island. But, “Shhhhh- it’s a secret.”
Captain Andy’s private, Eagle Island is a sanctuary for those who really want to get away from it all for a while. But don’t worry, it’s not that primitive, there are many wonderful accommodations and amenities for the faint-at-heart and those who prefer softer beds, electricity, refrigeration and showers, to name a few. A 5-Moon lodge.
Eagle Island can only be accessed via boat, yours or theirs. The only building, other than the resident eagle’s nest, is a wonderful 2.5 story cabin with wraparound porch, jacuzzi and more! The ground floor offers up a rec room, with ping-pong table, bunk beds, kitchen area and even some fishing equipment, blue crab bait and traps. The first floor is a haven in and of itself with a fireplace for cooler nights, a full-service kitchen, comfortable dining room, two bedrooms, one-bath and a loft! There’s even a beautiful, full-multi-shower outside, under the stairs! But don’t worry, this too is enclosed for privacy. And the decor is something you’ll want to do at home! Other amenities include: linens, guest robes, DIRECTV and wireless internet (but you may not want to tell the men that).
Outside you will find a wonderful wraparound screened-porch, great for watching the stars at night, listening to and watch the wildlife, from the jacuzzi or the swing. An awesome circular fire pit (wood and kindling provided) is near the house for guests to use for barbecues, roasting marshmellows for s’mores, telling stores and just being in the moment.
Take a hike around the island, only 10-acres, with a hammock on south end of island; go birding, kayaking, fishing off the pier or from a boat or kayak. Rentals are available from the mainland, it’s recommended that your reserve in advance. There are also a guided kayak tours in the area if you would like a wonderful history and scenic tour around the coastal marshes.
Eagle Island is ideal for romantic getaways, girlfriends getaways, men’s trips, even a board retreat, small, intimate wedding and small, family reunions. Andy has another island with a lodge, beautifully decorated with an unusual sunken patio. Surround yourself with peaceful beauty.

2,500 year old Healing Modality - Herbal Thai Compress Ritual at Mandarin Oriental Spa

Soothe tired, sore muscles with compresses made of naturally therapeutic ingredients. Embark on a truly relaxing spa escape at the Spa at Mandarin Oriental in Miami. After registering and relaxing in a comfy robe, while sipping juice infused water or a daily special tea, let your mind wonder to your happy place.

Thai was developed by Buddhist monks in Thailand and uses passive stretching and gentle pressure along the body's energy lines to increase flexibility, relieve muscles and joint tension and balance the body's energy systems.

I experienced a wonderful Herbal Thai Compression Massage at the spa. My massage therapist, Francesca, who is from Montecarlo, inquired about my overall health and what my expectations were from my massage. Was I looking for something relaxing or to stretch my overworked muscles and re-energize me? My spa suite was beautiful from the warm massage table, a jacuzzi and shower, overlooking the sparkling intercoastal.

The Herbal Thai compresses are made of restorative ingredients such as lemongrass, ginger and peppermint, are steamed and then positioned strategically on key muscles of the body. For almost an hour and a half I was stretched, massaged, soothed and re-energized. Deep muscle therapy helped alleviate the tension built in me. Methodically Francesca applied enough pressure to release taught muscles and then invigorate them for a busy work day ahead. Restore your body to its’ natural balance.

At the end of their (and my) treatment, guests are asked to select which type of tree they would like to be planted to help enrich the Everglades National Park. Guests can chose between a live oak, bald cypress, slash pine or gumbo limbo tree to help preserve and protect Florida’s World Heritage.

The Mandarin Oriental has the only five-star spa in the country.
